My Bricha (Exodus) narrates the journey of a young refugee girl and her mother as they set out towards the ‘Promised Land’ – then Mandatory Palestine, after surviving the Holocaust and being liberated from their hiding place in a potato cellar. The book traces the girl’s life as a refugee, first in Austria and later in Italy, and highlights how these experiences physically and mentally shaped her in preparation for her future life in Israel.

Tova Zehavi-Willner, born in 1934 in Skalat, Eastern Poland (now Western Ukraine), immigrated to Israel with her mother in 1948, where they embarked on building a fresh life. Tova excelled professionally as a biochemist and microbiologist, and married Prof. Uri Zehavi. Together, they lovingly raised their three sons: Shlomi, Gideon, and Amos.
